Abstract: The Coordinating Board of Jewish Organizations Records are the records of a United Nations advisory body for Jewish groups around the world. The records, which span the years 1949 through 1953 include correspondence, speeches, reports and newsclippings concerning the United Nations, and the component organizations such as the B'nai B'rith, Board of Deputies of British Jews and the South African Board of Jewish Deputies.

Institutional Sketch

The Coordinating Board of Jewish Organizations was founded in 1947 to serve the United Nations as an advisory board for Jewish organizations in all parts of the world. The Coordinating Board of Jewish Organizations (CBJO) has the special United Nations advisory status of a Non-Governmental Organization and plays an important role as a subgroup of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

The CBJO acts as a consultative committee on such diverse topics as has been active on the issues of peace, human rights, youth, terrorism, the environment, and the establishment of an International Criminal Court.
