Biographical Sketch

Born in Munich, Germany, 21 January 1891, Marta Feuchtwanger was married to Lion Feuchtwanger, noted German novelist and anti-fascist. The Feuchtwangers were active participants in the German literary and cultural scene between the wars. In 1940, they fled the Nazis in Europe and came to the US where they settled in Southern California.

The Marta Toeffler Feuchtwanger Papers are open to all users. The original manuscript collection is available in the Barrows-Loebelson Reading Room of the Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives.
