Adolf Guttmacher was born in Germany on January, 7, 1861 and immigrated to the US in 1884. He was ordained a rabbi at Hebrew Union College and received a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. Guttmacher served congregations in Baltimore. He died on January 17, 1915 in Baltimore.
Collection includes sermons, correspondence, newsclippings, and scrapbooks.

The Adolf Guttmacher Papers are open to all users. The original manuscript collection is available in the Barrows-Loebelson Reading Room of the Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives.

Mrs. Adolf Guttmacher, by the act of donating the Adolf Guttmacher Papers to the American Jewish Archives, assigned all property rights to the American Jewish Archives. Literary rights are retained by Adolf Guttmacher and his heirs. Literary rights may also be retained by specific creators of materials.
