Institutional SketchThe American Jewish Alternatives to Zionism, Inc., an anti-Zionist organization was founded by Rabbi Elmer Berger in 1968. Berger had been a founder, chief spokesperson and executive vice president (1943-1968) of the American Council for Judaism, an anti-Zionist organization founded in 1942. Berger resigned from the Council in 1968 and founded the American Jewish Alternatives to Zionism, of which he was President and chief spokesperson til his death. Several times a year the organization publishes a bulletin, "Reports." Other publications include books and pamphlets containing essays or addresses explaining the anti-zionist viewpoint. Berger is the author of many of the organization's publications. Scope and Content NotePeriodical "Reports," pamphlets and monographs dated 1968-1982; and microfilmed copies of correspondence, reports and newsclippings dated 1968-1973, pertaining to the activities of the organization.
