Biographical Sketch

Born in Kovno in 1876 or 1878. Orthodox rabbi, author, and Zionist. Was president of the Council of Orthodox Rabbis of America and Canada and co-founder of the Assembly of Hebrew Orthodox Rabbis of America. Simon Glazer died in 1938.

Collection consisting of correspondence, lectures, notes, writings, diaries, Hebrew and Yiddish manuscripts; together with items pertaining to Glazer's career as an Orthodox rabbi.

Terms of Access and Use

The Simon Glazer Papers are open to all users. The original manuscript collection is available in the Barrows-Loebelson Reading Room of the Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives.

Property and Literary Rights

Mrs. B. Benedict Glazer, by the act of donating the Simon Glazer Papers to the American Jewish Archives, assigned all property rights to the American Jewish Archives. Literary rights are retained by Simon Glazer and his heirs. Literary rights may also be retained by specific creators of materials.
