The Anti-Semitism Collection is open to all users and available in the reading room of the American Jewish Archives.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE top

The Anti-Semitism Collection contains anti-Semitic newspapers, pamphlets, articles and magazines published by numerous organizations and individuals. This collection was compiled by an anonymous Cincinnati, Ohio, resident who joined and infiltrated many anti-Semitic and fascist groups during the 1950s and 1960s in order to collect their literature and stay abreast of their activities. For personal and security reasons the compiler and donor of this collection has chosen to remain anonymous and donated the material to the American Jewish Archives on the condition of remaining anonymous in perpetuity.

These items are especially important as evidence of the propaganda produced by many organizations in the 1950s and 1960s. Under the guise of innocuous patriotic or religious sounding names these groups attempted to reach mainstream America with their message of anti-Semitism. Especially interesting are the publications intended for a national audience such as The Cross and the Flag. Much can be gleaned from this collection regarding Jewish-Christian relations, the rise of fascist, right wing and neo-Nazi organizations in America during this period.

The collection is organized alphabetically in one series by either the name of the publication, group or person.
