Biographical Sketch

Born in Vincennes, Indiana in 1896 to Jacob G. and Blanche Joseph. Married three times: to Gerhard Foreman in 1916 with whom she had one daughter; to Henry I. Monheimer in 1928 with whom she had one son; and to Leonard Hammond in 1947. Was a philanthropist and civic leader in Chicago and Los Angeles. Member of the Board of Governors of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Beatrice J. Hammond died in 1985.
