Biographical SketchJacob D. Schwarz, rabbi, organizational executive and author, was born on December 6, 1883, to David and Dora Schwarz in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1906 and was ordained at Hebrew Union College the same year. He served as rabbi for a congregation in Pensacola, Florida, until 1912 when he was appointed Assistant Director of the Synagogue and School Extension Department of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations (UAHC). He served as Assistant Secretary of the UAHC from 1919-1931 and as Director of the Bureau of Synagogue Activities from 1932-1952. Jacob D. Schwarz died in December, 1962. Scope and Content NoteSermons and writings, correspondence, correspondence and reports pertaining to his activities as director of Synagogue Activities of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations; together with class notes, diary of travels, testimonials, photograph, postcard collection (1905-1910) and personal and family records.
