Scope and Content NoteCollection includes a scrapbook with clippings and records that document the life and career of Samuel A. Lewis (1831-1913), a New York City politician, community leader and philanthropist. Papers also include correspondence between his descendents, photographs, miscellaneous information on the Lewis family, and a student paper written by Howard Stein, a descendent of Samuel Lewis. RestrictionsTerms of Access and UseThe Lewis-Stein Family Papers are open to all users. The original manuscript collection is available in the Barrows-Loebelson Reading Room of the Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives. Property and Literary RightsRobert and Saralee Stein, by the act of donating the Lewis-Stein Family Papers to the American Jewish Archives, assigned all property rights to the American Jewish Archives. Literary rights are retained by the Lewis-Stein Family and their heirs. Literary rights may also be retained by specific creators of materials.
