Biographical Sketch

Stuart M. Geller was born in 1942 and ordained at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1970. Well known for his sense of humor and his commitment to Jewish youth, Rabbi Geller was awarded the prestigious Samuel Cook Award for Distinguished Service in Youth Work from the Central Conference of American Rabbis in June, 2001. He actively served Temple Emanu-El of Lynbrook, New York for 21 years and was named Rabbi Emeritus upon his retirement.

Scope and Content Note

The Stuart M. Geller Papers consist primarily of sermons delivered by Rabbi Geller from 1972-1995. These include holiday sermons, topical sermons on Israel, conversion and intermarriage, together with files on the annual meetings of Temple Emanu-El of Lynbrook, N.Y., from 1987-1995.
